The three surrounding Barangays has a total population of 3,829, with migrants now outnumbering the IP's. They area are ancestral lands of the Bataks and Tagbanuas, two of the 7 indigenous cultural groups found in Palawan. Members are engaged in gathering of minor forest products such as rattan, almaciga, and honey as the main source of income. They still resort to swidden agriculture and hunt game and fish to add to their dietary requirements. They are shy and quite by nature and prefer to avoid conflicts with migrants who have settled in the area. Two CADC's have been established to protect these indigenous cultural communities. The area is a cultural melting pot with settlers from practically all regions of the country. Majority of the people speak Filipino and cuyunon, other dialects spoken include Tagbanua, Ilocano, Cebuano and Ilongo. They are mostly engaged in agro-forestry and fishing. The development of tourism in the area has provided much needed income and livelihood opportunities to the local people
